Hit-and-Run Accidents in California
California’s highways, such as SR-99 in Modesto, are critical routes for local and regional transportation but can also be dangerous, particularly for pedestrians. Hit-and-run incidents involving pedestrians are particularly troubling as victims are left vulnerable without immediate aid from the responsible party.
Drivers are legally required to stop and assist in the event of an accident. Fleeing the scene of a collision is a serious offense that carries significant legal consequences. Emergency responders and local law enforcement play a critical role in providing aid and pursuing accountability.
Pedestrians are urged to exercise caution, avoid walking on freeways, and use designated crossings whenever possible. Motorists must remain vigilant, especially during early morning hours when visibility may be limited.
