Mitchell County, IA (September 20, 2024) – A tragic accident involving two semi-trucks occurred in Mitchell County on Thursday afternoon, September 19, resulting in one death and two injuries. Senika Range, 43, of McDonough, Georgia, was taken to Regional Health Center by Mitchell County Emergency Services, while Christo Van Der Linde, 24, of Stacyville, Iowa, was transported to the same hospital by a private vehicle.
The crash occurred when Senika Range was driving a 2024 Mack truck southbound on Kirwood Avenue and failed to yield at a stop sign. As Range’s truck entered the intersection, it was struck by an eastbound 2012 Peterbilt truck driven by Van Der Linde. The impact was severe enough to eject a passenger from Range’s truck, and the Peterbilt subsequently overturned, spilling its load of corn across the roadway.
Emergency responders from the Stacyville Fire Department, Mitchell County Ambulance, and St. Ansgar Fire and EMS were on the scene to assist with the aftermath of the accident. Their quick response was crucial in providing care to the injured and managing the situation.
