Millsboro, DE (December 23, 2024) – Emergency responders were called to a serious crash involving two vehicles, including a trash truck, on Conaway Rd in Millsboro at approximately 1:32 PM on December 23. The collision involved multiple injuries, fuel leakage, and entrapment.
Initial reports indicated one person trapped, but first responders confirmed two patients were entrapped upon arrival. The Sussex County Technical Rescue Team was initially dispatched but later canceled. Emergency crews, including Millsboro Fire Department and medics, worked to extricate the patients.
At 1:43 PM, Command reported two patients: one with serious injuries and the other in critical condition. A third individual with minor injuries was being evaluated by EMS. A fuel leak from the trash truck added complexity to the response.
By 1:50 PM, one patient was extricated, and Delaware State Police Aviation Trooper 2 transported them to Christiana Hospital. The second patient was freed by 1:55 PM. Traffic in the area was redirected as emergency teams worked to secure the scene and clean up the roadway.
