Mills County, IA (November 11, 2024) – A serious head-on collision near Pacific Junction on Sunday afternoon left four individuals hospitalized, including one juvenile. The crash occurred just after noon on Highway 34 at the I-29 exit.
According to the report, a 2023 Honda Accord was exiting from northbound I-29 onto Highway 34. The driver turned westbound into the eastbound lanes of Highway 34, colliding head-on with a 2006 GMC Yukon.
Emergency responders arrived promptly to provide aid. Two people from the Honda and two occupants of the Yukon, one of them a juvenile, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Additional occupants of the Yukon sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
The injured adults included two residents of Glenwood, Iowa—aged 40 and 34—and one individual from South Dakota.
The accident caused temporary disruptions at the intersection as crews worked to assist victims, clear debris, and investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
