Miamisburg, OH (October 18, 2024) – A serious traffic accident occurred on August 13, resulting in significant injuries to a Miamisburg woman and leading to the indictment of a Middletown man for driving under the influence. The incident took place around 8:45 p.m. when Wesley Adam Leis, 40, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Elantra west on Upper Miamisburg Road.
According to a crash report from the Miamisburg Police Department, Leis made a right turn onto Soldiers Home Miamisburg Road, veered left of center, and collided with a 2009 Ford F-150 that was stopped in the left turn lane. The driver of the pickup, a 61-year-old man from Miamisburg, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Kettering Health Main Campus for treatment.
Leis, who was not injured in the crash, had a passenger in his vehicle—a 36-year-old woman from Miamisburg, who is the registered owner of the car. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Kettering Health Miamisburg for medical care.
The police suspected alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident. Testing revealed that Leis had a blood-alcohol level of 0.284, which is more than three times Ohio’s legal limit of 0.08. Additionally, Leis was driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash and had a prior operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) conviction from 2022 in Kettering Municipal Court.
As a result of these findings, a warrant has been issued for Leis’ arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned on October 31 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, facing charges of aggravated vehicular assault and two misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle while under the influence.
