Miami-Dade, FL (March 8, 2025) – A violent crash involving a motorcycle and a car resulted in both vehicles erupting in flames on Friday evening in southwest Miami-Dade.
The accident occurred near SW 152nd St and SW 112th Ave, sending thick black smoke into the air that could be seen from miles away. Witnesses reported hearing a loud impact just before flames quickly engulfed both the motorcycle and the SUV involved in the crash.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, where paramedics provided medical aid to the injured motorcyclist before transporting them to a local hospital. The severity of their injuries has not yet been disclosed. Authorities have not reported any additional injuries or fatalities in connection with the crash.
One witness described the scene, stating, “Others made a left turn, and the motorcycle crashed into it. Then it just exploded. The motorcycle erupted into flames, and then the car caught fire too. Tires were popping, and everything was burning.”
Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine whether speed, visibility issues, or other factors contributed to the fiery impact.
Our thoughts are with the injured motorcyclist, and we hope for their full recovery.
Motorcycle Crash Risks in Miami-Dade County
Motorcycle accidents in Miami-Dade County often result in severe injuries due to the limited protection motorcyclists have compared to passengers in enclosed vehicles. High speeds, sudden lane changes, and left-turn collisions are common contributors to serious motorcycle crashes.
Accidents involving explosions or fires are particularly dangerous, as fuel leaks and high-impact crashes increase the risk of deadly burns or inhalation injuries. Motorcyclists are encouraged to:
- Wear protective gear, including a helmet and fire-resistant clothing
- Use extra caution when riding near high-traffic intersections
- Ensure visibility by using headlights, reflective gear, and defensive riding techniques
- Be aware of vehicles making left turns, as these account for a significant percentage of motorcycle crashes
