Mesa, AZ (February 18, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash involving a cement mixer truck caused a fiery wreck and shut down part of westbound US 60 near Greenfield Road on Tuesday morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), the collision occurred just before 7 a.m. when a cement mixer truck rear-ended a pickup truck that had either slowed or stopped due to traffic congestion. The impact caused the pickup to catch fire, leading to a dramatic rescue effort.
A Chandler Police Department motorcycle officer quickly broke the truck’s window, and an off-duty firefighter assisted in pulling the driver to safety just moments before the fire engulfed the vehicle. Emergency responders transported the pickup truck’s driver to a nearby hospital with what DPS described as “moderate injuries.”
The crash involved a total of seven vehicles, though details on additional injuries or damages have not yet been released. Officials have not confirmed whether speed, distraction, or other factors played a role in the incident.
An investigation remains ongoing.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we hope for a full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Accidents and Truck Collisions in Arizona
Highway crashes involving commercial vehicles, such as cement mixer trucks, can be particularly dangerous due to the size and weight of these trucks. A rear-end collision at high speeds can easily lead to catastrophic damage, especially when smaller passenger vehicles are involved.
Rollover crashes and vehicle fires further increase the risk of serious injuries, often requiring immediate intervention from emergency responders. In this case, the quick actions of a police officer and an off-duty firefighter helped prevent a potential tragedy.
Victims of large truck accidents often face significant medical expenses, lost wages, and emotional distress. Seeking legal and professional guidance can help those affected navigate the complex recovery process and understand their options for compensation.
