Meredith, NH (October 1, 2024) – A devastating fire occurred on Monday September 30, at approximately 4:00 PM, at a single-family home located at 203 Pease Road in Meredith. Reports indicated that two individuals were trapped inside the residence when the Meredith Fire Department received the emergency call.
Upon arrival, first responders encountered significant flames and smoke coming from the second story of the home. Firefighters bravely entered the building and began their extinguishing efforts. During their search, they discovered one individual who was unfortunately pronounced deceased at the scene. Fortunately, two other residents were able to evacuate safely before the fire spread further.
The Meredith Fire Department received assistance from several local agencies, including the Meredith Police Department, Laconia Police Department, Laconia Fire Department, Gilford Fire Department, Moultonborough Fire Department, Holderness Fire Department, Bristol Fire Department, Center Harbor Fire Department, New Hampton Fire Department, and Ashland Fire Department.
Positive identification of the deceased victim is pending an autopsy scheduled at the New Hampshire State Medical Examiner’s Office in Concord on October 1, 2024. An active investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is currently underway by members of the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office.
