Menomonie, WI (September 18, 2024) – A school bus rear-ended multiple vehicles in a construction zone in Dunn County on Tuesday afternoon, September 17. The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. on County Hwy B at the interchange of I-94 near Menomonie. According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the bus failed to stop in time, causing a chain reaction.
The bus struck a Chevy Silverado, pushing it into a Ford Excursion, both of which were stopped at a traffic light due to road construction. The 58-year-old driver of the Chevy, a Colfax resident, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, none of the approximately 45 students aboard the bus were injured.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
