Meigs County, TN (September 2, 2024) – A tragic accident on Monday, September 2, claimed the life of Amber M. Green, 30, and left her four children in critical condition. The crash occurred on Hwy 58 during heavy rain, which contributed to the incident, according to District Attorney General Russell Johnson. A black car driven by Kristen M. Kruse, 38, hydroplaned after passing several vehicles and struck Green’s car.
Eyewitness Sam Shaffer, who was driving behind the black car, reported seeing it speeding and passing other cars before losing control. The car slid into oncoming traffic and collided with Green’s vehicle. After the crash, Shaffer called 911 and assisted the children, finding their mother deceased in the driver’s seat. The Tennessee Highway Patrol initially called its Critical Incident Response Team, but they were unable to reach the scene due to severe weather.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of this tragic event.
