Mechanicsville, MD (November 7, 2024) – Emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle collision on Wednesday evening that resulted in one person being airlifted to a trauma center. The incident occurred around 5:05 p.m. on the 38000 block of New Market Turner Road.
First responders arrived at the scene to find a head-on collision, with one vehicle off the roadway and crashed into a tree. One driver was trapped and injured in the wreckage, prompting a swift response from firefighters.
Firefighters worked diligently to stabilize the vehicle and successfully extricated the trapped driver within 30 minutes of the initial call. Due to the severity of the injuries sustained, emergency medical services requested a medevac transport for the injured individual.
The Maryland State Police Trooper 7 helicopter was dispatched to a nearby landing zone established by firefighters, and the injured patient was airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma Center for treatment.
