Maspeth, NY (January 9, 2025) – A collision on the Long Island Expressway near 69th Rd left six individuals injured early this morning. Emergency responders from Maspeth Fire and Rescue promptly arrived at the scene to assist victims and manage the situation.
The crash, involving a black car and a gray SUV, occurred just past eastbound exit 19 at approximately 8:41 a.m. First responders, including paramedics and fire crews, worked diligently to extricate a trapped individual from one of the vehicles. Despite being trapped, the individual was unharmed, and all six individuals involved were assessed by EMS. Of these, three suffered serious injuries, while the remaining three sustained minor injuries.
EMS personnel quickly categorized the injuries and arranged transport for the injured victims to nearby hospitals. By 9:27 a.m., all patients had been removed from the scene or were en route to medical facilities. NYPD Highway personnel have taken over control of the site, and FDNY units have been released from the scene. An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
