Martinsburg, WV (December 13, 2024) – A tragic crash occurred Wednesday at 6:50 PM on Baker Road in Martinsburg, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. West Virginia State Police responded to the scene and found that a 2016 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 53-year-old Jaime Bayliss of Martinsburg, had struck 29-year-old Samuel Alberto Alomino Rivera, also from Martinsburg. Rivera was walking along the right shoulder of the road when he was hit by the vehicle.
Emergency responders transported Rivera to Berkeley Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Bayliss, the driver, was not injured in the incident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
