Marshall, TX (January 17, 2025) – A woman and a 22-month-old toddler were hospitalized following a house fire early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on January 15 in the 2200 block of Pinecrest Dr, according to the Marshall Fire Department (MFD).

When firefighters arrived, they found flames visible through the front windows and heavy smoke throughout the wood-frame house. Marshall Police Department officers, who were first on the scene, heard screams coming from inside and removed a double-window to assist with rescue efforts.

Firefighters located a 23-year-old woman trapped under a fallen dresser and unconscious. She was quickly rescued and transferred to emergency medical personnel. The homeowner, who had safely evacuated through a bedroom door before firefighters arrived, informed crews that a 22-month-old infant was still inside.

Fire crews conducted an intensive search and found the toddler in a void space between furniture in another bedroom. Both the woman and the toddler were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

We wish those hurt a swift and full recovery.
