The incident took place around 7:55 p.m. at the eastbound I-94 and I-69 interchange, as reported by the Michigan State Police.
According to officials, troopers were patrolling eastbound I-94 when they noticed a motorcycle without a registration plate. Upon activating their overhead lights to initiate a traffic stop, the motorcyclist, identified as a 20-year-old man from Marshall, refused to pull over. Instead of complying, he accelerated and continued east on I-94.
The Michigan State Police stated that they did not pursue the motorcyclist due to department policy, which prohibits engaging in vehicle pursuits for common traffic violations. As the motorcyclist approached the I-69 interchange, he encountered heavy traffic. In an attempt to split lanes, he collided with the front of a car, lost control, and was subsequently ejected from the motorcycle, being struck by oncoming traffic.

Motorcycle Accidents in Michigan
Motorcycle accidents can have devastating consequences, often resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. In Michigan, the number of motorcycle accidents has raised concerns about rider safety, particularly as more individuals take to the roads on two-wheeled vehicles.
Statistics indicate that motorcyclists are significantly more vulnerable than drivers of enclosed vehicles. The lack of protection offered by motorcycles increases the risk of serious injuries in the event of a crash. Factors such as impaired driving, speeding, and failure to yield can contribute to the likelihood of accidents.
When accidents occur, especially those involving reckless behavior or fleeing from law enforcement, it is crucial for victims and their families to understand their rights and options. If the accident was caused by the negligence of another party, victims may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
If you or someone you know has been involved in a motorcycle accident, it is essential to consult with a knowledgeable personal injury attorney who can help navigate the complexities of the legal system. An experienced attorney can provide guidance on pursuing compensation for injuries and losses sustained in the accident.
