Marion, NC (September 18, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle collision occurred early Wednesday morning, resulting in one fatality and serious injuries to another individual. At approximately 4:45 a.m. on September 18, McDowell EMS, Glenwood Fire Department, and McDowell Rescue were dispatched to the 8900 block of U.S. Hwy. 221 South, just south of Mud Cut Road.
According to EMS Director Will Kehler, emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a critically damaged vehicle. Paramedics pronounced one patient dead at the scene, while another individual was transported to Mission Trauma Center in Asheville for urgent medical care due to serious injuries.
