Marion, MO (October 25, 2024) – A multi-vehicle accident occurred on Thursday evening at approximately 6:33 p.m. at the intersection of Route MM and Veterans Road, located a quarter mile west of Hannibal. The incident involved three vehicles: a 2004 Ford Explorer, a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, and a 2015 Ford Escape, leading to extensive damage and one reported injury.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the Ford Explorer, 18-year-old Blake J. Mullins from Hannibal, failed to yield while turning, entering the path of the Chevrolet Impala, driven by 58-year-old Carol L. Luckey, also from Hannibal. The collision caused the Impala to strike the Explorer, which then collided with the Ford Escape, operated by 67-year-old Richard K. Mastin from New London.
Both the Ford Explorer and the Chevrolet Impala sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene by Scott’s Minor Collision and Heartland Towing & Recovery, respectively. The Ford Escape, however, sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.
Emergency responders arrived promptly to assess the situation. Carol Luckey, who was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident, suffered injuries and was transported by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Fortunately, both Mullins and Mastin did not report any injuries.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department, along with Hannibal Rural Fire Department, assisted at the scene, and the incident is currently under investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
Our thoughts are with those affected by this incident, and we wish a swift recovery for Carol Luckey.
