Marion County, MO (February 28, 2025) – A serious multi-vehicle crash west of Hannibal left two people injured on Thursday afternoon, according to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at approximately 2:19 p.m. on Route MM, about one mile west of Hannibal. Authorities stated that a 2020 Ford F-250, driven by a 37-year-old man from Olive Branch, Mississippi, failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with a 2013 Chevrolet Impala traveling westbound. The impact caused the Impala to lose control and strike a 2020 Lincoln Navigator heading eastbound.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. The 27-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Impala suffered serious injuries and was airlifted by Survival Flight to University Hospital in Columbia, MO. The 34-year-old driver of the Lincoln Navigator sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital. The condition of the Ford F-250’s driver was not reported.

All three vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene by Scott’s Minor Collision and Heartland Towing & Recovery. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department, along with Hannibal Fire and Rural Fire Departments, assisted with the response and investigation. Authorities continue to review the incident to determine if further action is necessary.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.

Failure to Yield Accidents in Missouri

Failure to yield is one of the leading causes of serious collisions, particularly at intersections and stop signs. When a driver disregards traffic control devices, the results can be devastating, as seen in this crash on Route MM.

In Missouri, all drivers must come to a full stop at designated intersections and ensure the road is clear before proceeding. Unfortunately, failure to yield often leads to high-impact crashes that result in severe injuries or fatalities. In this case, one driver’s failure to stop caused a chain-reaction collision, sending multiple people to the hospital.

Victims of such accidents often face extensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and financial hardship due to medical expenses and lost wages. Those injured in crashes caused by another driver’s negligence may have legal options to seek compensation for their damages.
