The crash occurred just after 7:00 PM, east of NE 170th Ave, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The FHP reported that the accident took place when the driver of a sedan traveling westbound on County Rd 314 attempted to overtake another vehicle. This maneuver caused the sedan to cross the double yellow lines into the eastbound lanes, where it collided head-on with another vehicle. Tragically, the sedan’s driver, a 50-year-old woman from Pottstown, PA, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her passenger, also from Pottstown, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. FHP confirmed that neither occupant of the sedan was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver and passenger of the second vehicle also suffered serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical care. Their current conditions have not been released.
The incident caused significant disruption on County Rd 314 as emergency crews and investigators worked to clear the scene and collect evidence. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic collision.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased, and we extend our thoughts to those injured as they recover.
