Maricopa, AZ (September 24, 2024) – A three-car crash occurred on State Route 347 at the Riggs Road intersection shortly before 2 p.m. on September 24, leading to significant traffic delays for northbound motorists.
Initial reports indicate that a silver SUV traveling northbound collided with the rear of a larger silver SUV, causing both vehicles to become disabled in the median. A third vehicle was also involved in the incident, although details regarding its condition were not immediately available.
As of 2 p.m., emergency responders, including two officers from the Gila River Police Department and at least four officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, were on the scene investigating the crash and directing traffic. According to DPS spokesman Bart Graves, the investigation has since been turned over to the Gila River Indian Community Police Department (GRICPD).
At approximately 2:30 p.m., the larger SUV was being towed from the scene, while the smaller SUV remained in the median. As traffic continued to be impacted, GRICPD spokeswoman Teaya Enos reported that the roadway would reopen shortly after 3:05 p.m.
