Margate, FL (January 15, 2025) – Authorities are investigating a devastating three-vehicle crash that claimed the lives of three people late Tuesday night at the intersection of Royal Palm Blvd and Rock Island Rd.
The accident occurred at approximately 11:55 p.m. when a white BMW traveling southbound on Rock Island Rd collided with a silver Honda Accord heading eastbound on Royal Palm Blvd. Following the initial collision, the BMW struck a Toyota Camry traveling north on Rock Island Rd.
The crash resulted in tragic fatalities. The driver of the Honda, identified as 24-year-old Brayan Steven Wilches, and the rear passenger, 48-year-old Diana Nino, succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The Honda’s front passenger, 27-year-old Nancy Sanchez, was rushed to Broward Health North but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A passenger in the BMW sustained serious injuries and was transported to Broward Health North for treatment, while the driver of the BMW suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Camry experienced minor injuries and was treated on the scene by Margate Fire Rescue.
Footage shared by witnesses depicted the moments immediately after the crash, showing first responders rendering aid as emergency lights illuminated the area. By Wednesday morning, debris, including clothing and car parts, was visible at the scene before being cleared by authorities.
The intersection was temporarily closed following the crash but has since reopened. Margate police confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
