Margate, FL (March 8, 2025) – A woman suffered multiple injuries after being struck by a driver moments after a crash on State Road 7 in Margate last week, according to local authorities.
The Margate Police Department reported that Dylan Rogers, 22, was involved in a fender bender with the victim before the situation escalated. As the woman was walking back to her car following the initial collision, Rogers allegedly accelerated his vehicle, striking her.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim was hit by the front bumper of Rogers’ black Nissan Sentra, rolling onto the hood before being thrown off. As she landed, the car’s front tire ran over her left foot, causing further injuries. The woman managed to roll out of the road to avoid being hit by another vehicle while Rogers allegedly fled the scene, leaving her injured.
Police arrived soon after, and the victim provided a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle. Within 10 minutes, officers stopped a black Nissan Sentra matching the description a few miles away. Rogers initially refused to answer questions but later reportedly asked officers, “Say someone is in the same situation, what would the charges be?”
The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries to her knees, feet, back, and shoulders. During a FaceTime call from her hospital bed, she positively identified Rogers as the driver who hit her.
Authorities arrested Rogers and booked him into the Broward County Jail on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and failure to remain at an accident scene. He has since bonded out of jail.
Hit-and-Run Accidents and Legal Consequences
Hit-and-run accidents can result in severe injuries and criminal charges, particularly when a driver intentionally harms another person. In Florida, leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries is a felony offense, carrying serious legal consequences, including jail time and fines.
Victims of hit-and-run accidents often face costly medical expenses, emotional distress, and long-term rehabilitation. If you are ever involved in a crash, Florida law requires drivers to stop, check for injuries, and report the accident to authorities.
