Marathon, NY (September 4, 2024) – A two-car collision on Interstate 81 in Marathon resulted in the death of a 71-year-old man from Camden County, NJ. On Thursday, August 15, around 1:10 p.m., New York State Police reported that Timothy B. Willson of Collingswood died when a Honda SUV driven by Mohammed Sanzid Bin Rashid, 26, swerved to avoid stopped traffic and struck Willson’s Toyota.
The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway, with the Honda overturning onto its side. Willson was pronounced dead at the scene. A 70-year-old female passenger in the Toyota was taken to Upstate Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the crash and will provide further updates as the inquiry continues.
