Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Authorities reported no signs of criminality associated with the incident. The circumstances surrounding how the woman came to be on the tracks remain under investigation.

The fatal collision caused significant service disruptions on the A and C subway lines, with delays in both directions. Southbound A trains were rerouted to local tracks from Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets Station to Euclid Ave, while C trains ran on express tracks between 125th St and 168th St in both directions until 8 a.m. Northbound C trains were also diverted onto express tracks between Canal St and 168th St during the affected hours, according to the MTA.
