Manhattan, NY (February 25, 2025) – A fire inside a high-rise apartment building on the Upper East Side left five people injured on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred at 205 E 92nd St, where firefighters responded to reports of a fire on the 16th floor.
According to emergency reports, firefighters arrived at the scene and worked quickly to extinguish the flames. As the fire spread, residents above the 16th floor were advised to remain in their apartments with doors shut for safety. Crews successfully contained the fire, and secondary searches confirmed no additional victims.
Officials initially reported that four people sustained minor injuries, but the total later increased to five, with one individual suffering more serious injuries. Two of the victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment, while two others declined medical assistance.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding the cause of the fire, and an investigation is ongoing. The gas supply to the building was shut off as a precaution.
