Manatee County, FL (November 11, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 49-year-old man on Sunday evening on State Road 70 near 15th Street East. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the man was struck by three vehicles while attempting to cross the busy roadway.
The initial collision occurred when the pedestrian crossed State Road 70 and was struck by a vehicle traveling in the fast lane, throwing him into the path of a second vehicle traveling in the westbound lanes. A third vehicle then struck the man.
Manatee County Emergency Medical Services pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. Authorities have not released the name of the victim.
The Florida Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unit is actively investigating the crash. No charges have been filed at this time, and further details about the drivers or vehicles involved have not been disclosed.
