Manatee County, FL (January 14, 2025) – A collision involving three trucks, including a semi-tractor trailer, occurred Monday afternoon on State Road 70 near the Betts Rd intersection, resulting in minor injuries for two individuals. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
According to an FHP news release, the crash happened around 12:45 p.m. as a semi truck was traveling east on S.R. 70, approaching the Betts Rd intersection. At the same time, a pick-up truck driven by a 24-year-old man from Arcadia was heading west and stopped to make a left turn onto Betts Rd. After the impact, the second pick-up truck rotated counterclockwise and struck the left side of the semi truck, according to state troopers. Both pick-up truck drivers sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene, while the driver of the semi truck, a 45-year-old man from Arcadia, was uninjured.

Truck Accidents in Florida
Truck accidents are a common occurrence on Florida’s highways and intersections, often leading to severe consequences due to the size and weight of these vehicles. Multi-vehicle collisions, such as this incident on S.R. 70, can result in significant damage and injuries.
Factors like driver inattention, failure to maintain safe distances, and sudden stops frequently contribute to these types of crashes. In this case, the inability of the second pick-up truck’s driver to stop in time underscores the importance of remaining vigilant and aware of road conditions.
For those involved in truck accidents, navigating the aftermath can be complex, involving medical care, insurance claims, and potential legal actions. Seeking professional guidance is critical for ensuring rights are protected and securing necessary support.
