Manatee County, FL (January 17, 2025) – A tragic collision early Friday morning claimed the life of a 48-year-old Daytona Beach man after his pickup truck collided with a semi-truck at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Piney Point Rd. The crash occurred at approximately 5:49 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Troopers reported that the semi-truck, driven by a 58-year-old man from Lake Wales, was traveling east on Piney Point Rd and attempted to cross the southbound lanes of U.S. 41. As the semi entered the pickup truck’s path, the two vehicles collided. The pickup truck struck the left side of the semi-truck, resulting in fatal injuries to the pickup truck driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi-truck driver was uninjured in the crash. Authorities have not released the identities of the individuals involved, as the crash remains under investigation.
