Mainsburg, PA (October 18, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, October 16, when a 75-year-old man lost his life in a collision involving a Kenworth tractor-trailer. The incident occurred at Routes 6 and 549 intersection at approximately 2:47 PM.
According to police reports, Ronald Padleski, who was from Martinsburg, was pulling off from the side of Route 549 and attempting to turn left onto Route 6 East when a Kenworth Northwest T800 struck his Jeep Patriot. The tractor-trailer, driven by 58-year-old Patrick Powers of Mansfield, was traveling west on Route 6 during the crash.
Emergency responders transported Padleski to UPMC, where he later succumbed to his injuries. It was noted in the report that he was wearing his lap and shoulder seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Various agencies supported the scene, including Pennsylvania State Police from Mansfield, Mansfield Fire/EMS, PennDOT, American Truck Stop, and Crosskey’s Towing. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is ongoing.
