Madisonville, KY (October 11, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred Thursday morning, October 10 resulting in one driver being transported to the emergency room for medical treatment. The incident took place just before 11 a.m. at the intersection of South Main Street and McLeod Lane.
According to the Madisonville Police Department, a 19-year-old driver was traveling down South Main Street when he attempted to turn left into a parking lot. During this maneuver, he was struck by another vehicle. The young driver reported to officers that he had checked for oncoming traffic and believed it was clear before making the turn.
Fortunately, the other driver involved in the collision, as well as a child present in the vehicle, were unharmed. However, the 19-year-old sustained injuries that necessitated his transport to the emergency room for further evaluation and care.
Both vehicles involved in the crash were disabled as a result of the collision and required towing from the scene. The Madisonville Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
