Madison, WI (November 2, 2024) – A fire broke out in a four-unit apartment building located in the 4900 block of Camden Road, resulting in one person suffering critical injuries. The incident was reported to the Madison Fire Department at approximately 11:08 PM on November 1, 2024.
Emergency responders, including Engine 5 and Medic 5, arrived at the scene by 11:15 PM. Upon arrival, they observed a white haze but no visible flames from the exterior of the building. However, after entering the structure and ascending the stairs, firefighters encountered flames and black smoke emanating from an upstairs unit.
Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack while Ladder 8 assisted with search and rescue operations. During their efforts, they located one person trapped inside the fire-affected unit and successfully brought them outside. Medic 5 then took over patient care, and the critically injured individual was transported to a local hospital for urgent medical attention.
In addition to the critical injury, two other residents were displaced due to the fire, and the Red Cross is providing assistance to them. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by local authorities.
