Madison, MS (October 3, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, October 2 when an 8-year-old girl was struck and killed by a school bus in the Cobblestone subdivision. The incident took place around 4:20 p.m., prompting an immediate response from local authorities.
According to the Madison Police Department, the girl, identified as Jeanelle Fredericks by the county coroner, was hit by the Madison County bus. First responders transported Fredericks to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) by ambulance; however, she later succumbed to her injuries.
Reports from WLBT News indicated that a bicycle was found under the back of the bus at the scene. Witnesses, including children who had just exited the bus, stated, “She was under the bus,” highlighting the tragic nature of the incident.
