Macon County, MO (December 21, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US Hwy 63 and Lantern St, near the North LaPlata Junction, left one person seriously injured on Friday evening. The collision occurred around 5:19 p.m. and involved a northbound 2018 Cadillac and a southbound 2006 Jeep.
According to investigators, the Cadillac, driven by a 66-year-old man from Kahoka, MO, turned into the path of the Jeep, resulting in a significant collision. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and required towing from the scene by Stills Wrecker.
The driver of the Cadillac sustained serious injuries and was transported by Macon County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that he was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. The driver of the Jeep, a 24-year-old woman from LaPlata, MO, was reportedly uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt.
Emergency responders from the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, LaPlata Police and Fire Departments, and local ambulance services assisted at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
