Macomb Township, MI (December 17, 2024) – A fatal multi-car collision occurred Monday afternoon at the intersection of Garfield Rd and Adelaide Dr in Macomb Township. At approximately 1:52 PM, emergency responders from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene, where they discovered that a Jeep driver had crashed into a northbound semi-truck. The lone driver of the Jeep was traveling west on Adelaide at a high rate of speed when they allegedly ran a stop sign at the Garfield intersection and collided with the truck. Unfortunately, the driver of the Jeep succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
As a result of the initial collision, a white Ford Escape also struck the semi-truck while attempting to avoid the crash. Fortunately, the driver of the Ford Escape did not sustain serious injuries and was able to remain on the scene. Emergency responders assessed the situation and provided medical care, but tragically, the Jeep driver’s life could not be saved.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident. At this time, it is unclear whether alcohol, drugs, or other factors contributed to the crash.
