Highway Safety in Alabama
Major highways like I-65 play a vital role in connecting communities across Alabama. Unfortunately, they are also prone to accidents due to factors such as heavy traffic, high speeds, and driver inattention. Sections of the interstate in rural areas, such as those in Lowndes County, often present unique challenges, including limited lighting and long stretches of uninterrupted travel, which can lead to driver fatigue.
Alabama continues to address roadway safety through enhanced patrols, public education campaigns, and road improvement projects. Still, drivers are urged to play their part by staying alert, avoiding distractions, and adhering to posted speed limits.
