Louisville, NY (September 20, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred early Thursday afternoon in the town of Louisville, resulting in injuries to one individual. At approximately noon on September 20, a two-vehicle collision took place involving a New York State Police vehicle on State Highway 37.
According to preliminary investigations, Trooper James Bertram was traveling west in a marked patrol vehicle on State Highway 37 when an 18-year-old driver, Michael Martinez of Massena, failed to notice the patrol car stopping to make a left-hand turn into a rest area. As a result, the 2011 white Mazda sedan operated by Martinez struck the rear of Trooper Bertram’s vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to provide assistance. Martinez was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for medical evaluations and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, Trooper Bertram was unharmed in the incident.
