Louisville, KY (September 25, 2024) – A pedestrian was injured during a police pursuit on Wednesday morning, September 25 when a fleeing suspect’s vehicle struck them on West Broadway. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. and has been confirmed by Louisville Metro Police spokesperson John Bradley.
According to reports, officers from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana were pursuing a vehicle linked to a reported kidnapping. The suspect’s vehicle crossed state lines into Kentucky, prompting the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) to join the pursuit in a support role, involving backup units from the 2nd Division and an air unit.
The pedestrian was struck near the intersection of 10th Street and Broadway, leading to a temporary closure of Broadway between 9th and 11th streets while police conducted an on-scene investigation. Fortunately, the pedestrian is being treated for “non-critical injuries” and is expected to recover. The streets have since been reopened to traffic.
After the collision, the suspect fled back to Indiana, where they were later captured and taken into custody. The identities of both the suspect and the injured pedestrian have not been released at this time.
