Louisville, KY (January 24, 2025) – A man tragically lost his life in an unusual and deadly crash in South Louisville on Thursday evening. The incident occurred just before 7 PM at the intersection of 4th Street and Winkler Avenue.
According to John Bradley, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), the victim was hanging onto the outside of a vehicle when the driver of that car intentionally swerved into another vehicle. Responding officers, along with the Louisville Fire Department, found the man deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle the man was holding onto fled but was later located and detained near 7th Street and Algonquin.
The LMPD Homicide Unit, in collaboration with the Traffic Unit, is leading the investigation. Authorities have stated that no other injuries were reported, and all individuals involved in the incident have been accounted for. On Friday, police clarified that the driver of the second vehicle involved was not responsible for the man’s death.
