Louisville, KY (January 26, 2025) – A tragic three-vehicle collision on River Rd at Frankfort Ave claimed the life of a 39-year-old man and left another driver injured. Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) responded to the crash at approximately 4:40 p.m. on January 24.
According to police, Michael Janes, the driver of a westbound vehicle on River Rd, lost control and rear-ended a commercial vehicle that was turning left onto Frankfort Ave. The impact of the crash caused Janes’ vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic, where it collided with an eastbound vehicle.
Janes was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a woman, was transported to University Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not reported injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by LMPD’s Traffic Unit, as authorities work to determine why Janes lost control of his vehicle.
