Louisville, KY (December 23, 2024) – A devastating head-on collision early Monday morning on Highway 31 near the Clark Memorial Bridge claimed the lives of two individuals and left two others hospitalized with serious injuries. The crash occurred around 3:22 AM and prompted the closure of the bridge for more than four hours.
According to the Jeffersonville Police Department, a northbound vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound vehicle. Tragically, two passengers in the southbound vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger from the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. The driver of the northbound vehicle was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released. Investigators from the Jeffersonville Police Department and Indiana State Police are working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash, including why the northbound vehicle veered into oncoming traffic.
