Pedestrian Accidents on California Freeways
Pedestrian accidents on California freeways are rare but often result in severe injuries or fatalities due to the high speeds involved. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, freeway-related pedestrian incidents are particularly dangerous, as drivers do not expect to encounter individuals on high-speed roadways, making it difficult to react in time.
Common causes of freeway pedestrian accidents include vehicle breakdowns, drivers or passengers exiting vehicles after collisions, or individuals attempting to cross lanes on foot. Regardless of the circumstances, pedestrians on freeways face extreme risks due to limited visibility, high speeds, and distracted drivers.
Injuries from pedestrian accidents can range from fractures and head trauma to life-threatening internal injuries. Victims and their families often face significant medical expenses, emotional trauma, and financial burdens following such incidents.
