Livermore Falls, ME (November 11, 2024) – A motorcyclist sustained severe injuries in a collision with a pickup truck Monday evening on state Route 4, also known as Federal Road. The crash occurred just after the Livermore Falls Memorial Bridge, near River Road’s intersection, leading to a prolonged highway closure.
Authorities report that 30-year-old Brian Dubord of Livermore Falls was traveling north on Route 4 when a southbound Chevrolet pickup, driven by 60-year-old Michael Perry of Livermore, made a left turn in front of the motorcycle. Perry told investigators he mistook the motorcycle’s headlight for a stationary lamp at the end of a driveway.
The collision caused Dubord to suffer major injuries to his leg and arm. LifeFlight of Maine transported him to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he remains stable.
The crash was reported at 5:31 PM, and the roadway was closed for nearly four hours as authorities investigated the scene and cleared debris. Agencies assisting included Livermore Falls police, fire rescue teams, MaineHealth EMS, and the Lewiston Police Department, which handled crash reconstruction.
Our thoughts are with Brian Dubord, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.
Motorcycle Accidents in Maine
Motorcycle collisions, such as the one on Route 4, highlight the unique vulnerabilities motorcyclists face on the road. Even minor misjudgments by other drivers, such as mistaking a headlight, can lead to devastating outcomes. Maine’s roadways, particularly in areas with limited lighting or heavy traffic, pose additional challenges for both motorcyclists and other motorists.
This incident underscores the importance of awareness and caution when sharing the road with motorcycles. Drivers are reminded to double-check their surroundings, particularly when making left turns, as these are common scenarios for motorcycle-involved crashes.
For victims of motorcycle accidents, prompt medical attention and documentation of injuries are essential for recovery and any subsequent legal or insurance claims.
