Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2001 BMW was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-430 when it veered into the path of a 2018 Jeep. The collision was severe, leading to the operator of the Jeep, identified as 24-year-old Anthony Bryan Smith from Benton, being ejected from the vehicle, which subsequently became engulfed in flames. The driver of the BMW, 27-year-old Clifford James Griffin from Maumelle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders arrived promptly to assist at the crash site. The injured driver, Anthony Smith, was transported to Baptist Hospital for medical treatment. The weather conditions were clear, and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
