Winter Roadway Hazards and Accident Prevention in New York
New York experiences harsh winter conditions, which often contribute to hazardous driving situations. Snow, ice, and reduced visibility make roadways especially dangerous, increasing the risk of loss-of-control crashes like the one on Cedarville Rd.
Drivers navigating snowy or icy roads should exercise extreme caution, including:
- Reducing speed and allowing extra time to reach destinations
- Maintaining a safe following distance to avoid sudden braking on slippery roads
- Being alert for black ice and untreated roadways
- Ensuring tires and brakes are in good condition before winter travel
Even with careful driving, accidents can still occur. Those injured in winter-related crashes may have legal options if road conditions, vehicle malfunctions, or external negligence played a role in their injuries.
