Litchfield, MN (November 5, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred on November 4, 2024, at approximately 11:32 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 24 in Litchfield Township, Meeker County. The incident involved two vehicles and resulted in injuries to one passenger.
According to the report, a 2018 Volvo tractor-trailer, driven by 46-year-old Ivan Clay Moehlman from Wellington, KS, was traveling southbound on Highway 24. At the same time, a 2024 Freightliner 114SD, driven by 43-year-old Jacob Joseph Garding from Kimball, MN, was traveling westbound on Highway 12. The two vehicles collided at the intersection.
Emergency responders from the Litchfield Fire and Police Departments, along with Mayo Ambulance, were dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, the driver of the Freightliner was unharmed and did not require medical attention. However, a passenger in the Freightliner, 57-year-old Ricky John Kalkbrenner from Litchfield, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Meeker Memorial for evaluation and care.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, and there was no indication of alcohol involvement. The road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the collision.
