Lipscomb County, TX (October 1, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Monday night involving a tractor, resulting in one fatality and one injury. The incident took place on September 30 at approximately 7:05 p.m. when 72-year-old Dennis Gensman of Darrouzett was driving a John Deere tractor westbound on State Highway 15, traveling on a slope east of County Road 10.
As Gensman operated the tractor, a 2022 GMC Sierra was also traveling westbound on SH 15 and approached the rear of the tractor. Due to low light conditions and the absence of marked illuminated placards on the tractor, the driver of the truck failed to notice Gensman in time, leading to a collision with the rear of the tractor.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, Gensman was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the GMC Sierra sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
