According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), the accident occurred near milepost 10 at approximately 7:52 a.m. A Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 40-year-old Natosha Lynn Wells of Albany, was traveling eastbound when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet Trax driven by 37-year-old Kylie Rae Campbell of Sweet Home.

Head-On Collisions in Oregon
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of crashes, often resulting in severe or fatal injuries due to the direct impact. When a vehicle crosses the centerline, the risk of a devastating crash increases significantly, especially on undivided highways like Oregon 228.
Many head-on collisions occur due to driver fatigue, distracted driving, or poor road conditions. In some cases, medical emergencies or mechanical failures can also contribute to a driver veering out of their lane. Investigators will work to determine whether any of these factors played a role in Tuesday’s tragic accident.
Victims of head-on collisions often face significant financial and emotional hardships, including medical expenses, funeral costs, and loss of income. In cases where negligence is a factor, surviving family members may have legal options to seek justice and compensation for their loss.
