Lincoln, NE (November 23, 2024) – A three-car crash in northeast Lincoln on Thursday evening sent three individuals to the hospital and left one person with minor injuries. The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) responded to the collision at approximately 6:00 PM at the intersection of 63rd and Adams Streets.

According to LPD, a dump truck pulling a trailer was traveling westbound on Adams St when the trailer became detached. The unsecured trailer drifted into the eastbound lane, colliding with a silver Nissan Rogue and a red BMW.

Emergency responders transported the driver and two passengers from the Nissan Rogue to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the BMW sustained minor injuries but declined hospital transport. The driver of the dump truck was uninjured.

Authorities cited the dump truck driver for failing to secure the trailer and for operating without a valid driver’s license. The intersection was temporarily closed as police investigated and crews cleared the scene.

The Lincoln community wishes a speedy recovery to those injured and urges all drivers to take safety precautions to prevent similar incidents.

Truck-Related Accidents in Nebraska

Truck-related accidents, such as the one at 63rd and Adams Streets, often result in significant damage and injuries due to the size and weight of commercial vehicles. Loose trailers or improperly secured loads are a common hazard, particularly on busy roadways.

Nebraska law requires drivers of large trucks and trailers to ensure their loads are securely fastened to prevent accidents. Violations of these safety measures can have serious consequences, as seen in this incident.

Drivers are reminded to conduct thorough safety checks before operating vehicles with attached trailers. Likewise, motorists should remain cautious when sharing the road with large trucks and trailers, maintaining a safe following distance to avoid potential hazards.

For victims of truck-related accidents, the recovery process often involves addressing medical needs, dealing with insurance claims, and navigating legal complexities. Accessing appropriate support is crucial to recovering fully and protecting one’s rights.
