Lincoln, NE (January 11, 2025) – A T-bone collision involving a Lincoln Police Department (LPD) patrol vehicle and a red sedan left a police officer and a 36-year-old Lincoln man injured on Friday night. The crash occurred at the intersection of North 27th St and W St around 10:30 p.m.
LPD reported that the officer was responding to assist another officer, driving with lights and sirens activated. The patrol vehicle was traveling southbound on N 27th St when the red sedan, traveling eastbound on W St, stopped at a stop sign before proceeding into the intersection, where the collision occurred.
An off-duty officer nearby heard the crash and quickly arrived on the scene, relieving the involved officer and assisting the other driver. Lincoln Fire & Rescue extricated the driver of the sedan, who was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The officer was also taken to the hospital with injuries.
Authorities are investigating the crash and encouraging anyone to provide information.
