Lincoln County, MO (February 12, 2025) – Emergency responders were dispatched to a serious two-vehicle crash on Highway 47 late Tuesday morning. The accident, which occurred at approximately 11:45 a.m., resulted in injuries to two individuals.
According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2015 Volkswagen Passat, driven by a 20-year-old male from Moscow Mills, was attempting to make a left turn when a westbound 2024 Ford F-150, driven by a 65-year-old male from O’Fallon, tried to avoid the turning vehicle by braking and swerving right. Despite the attempt, the front of the F-150 struck the passenger side of the Volkswagen. Both vehicles then veered off the north side of the roadway, where the Volkswagen collided with a utility pole, and the F-150 subsequently struck the rear of the Volkswagen.
Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and provided care to the injured parties. The driver of the Volkswagen sustained injuries, while a 22-year-old female passenger from Hannibal suffered moderate injuries. Both were transported to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital Lake St. Louis by Lincoln County Ambulance.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, with the Volkswagen being secured roadside and the Ford F-150 towed from the scene by O’Fallon Collision Center. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Car Accidents in Missouri
Car accidents are an unfortunate reality on Missouri roadways, and many crashes occur due to unexpected maneuvers, driver misjudgments, or failure to react in time. In cases like this Highway 47 crash, turning movements and last-minute avoidance maneuvers can increase the likelihood of serious collisions.
Left-turn accidents are among the most common types of roadway incidents, as they often involve miscalculations of oncoming traffic speed or miscommunication between drivers. Missouri law requires drivers making a left turn to yield the right of way to any oncoming traffic unless given a clear signal to proceed. However, even with caution, these crashes can still happen, leading to injuries and extensive vehicle damage.
In the aftermath of an accident, injured individuals often face significant medical expenses, time away from work, and uncertainty about their legal rights. Seeking medical care and understanding the next steps for recovery are crucial. Missouri residents involved in crashes should be aware of available legal and financial resources, including insurance claims and potential compensation for damages.
If you or someone you love has been injured in a car accident, it’s important to understand your options for recovery. Seeking legal guidance can help ensure that injured victims receive the support they need. Contacting a professional who understands Missouri traffic laws can make a significant difference in navigating the aftermath of a serious crash.
